There is no hassle in going to the doctor or to the clinic. The test allows the patient to determine if they have an UTI before seeing a doctor to diagnose it. The results are accurate and reliable because it is comparable to the tests used by doctors and hospitals. In addition, there is no prescription required to purchase this test. This method of testing is not perfect compared to urinary culture in a laboratory, but it is quite useful for most women with recurrent UTIs, indwelling urinary catheters, paralysis, or sexually active. What does the test kit contain?
Who can I talk to if there are problems with the use of the product? There is a toll-free number to call (800) 479-5232. Customer service representatives are available between 8 AM – 5 PM Pacific Time (11 AM – 8 PM Eastern Time) Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. How does the test work?
¨ A clean, dry collection container ¨ A vial of UTIâ urine nitrite test strips ¨ A timer or watch with a second hand
¨ Best results can be obtained when using the first morning urine. Urine must have remained in the bladder for a minimum of 4-6 hours. ¨ Collect fresh urine in a clean, dry container (for example a paper or plastic cup). If you prefer not to collect urine, you may wet the test area by passing it directly through the urine stream. NOTE: Urine that cannot be tested within one hour must be refrigerated immediately and brought back to room temperature before testing (or retesting).
¨ Dip test area of the strip in the urine and remove immediately. ¨ Tap the test strip on the edge of toilet bowl or cup to remove any excess urine.
¨ At 60 seconds (1 minute), examine the strips for any color change in a good light. Carefully match the color of the strip, if any, to the color blocks on the vial label. NOTE: Ignore all color changes that take place after 2 minutes.
¨ Compare the test pad with the color blocks in the NORMAL (negative) and NOT NORMAL (positive) ranges on the vial label. What kind of results will be produced? The UTI Home Screening Test KitÔ produces a color result rather than a numerical result that indicates whether there are nitrites present in the urine or not. When will the results be available? The results are available in one minute once the test strip is dipped in the urine specimen. Background - Patient Info - Health Provider Info - FAQ & Answers - Only $9.95 - See Listing
