ZRT Menopause Home Test

FAQ and ANSWERS:

1.      What is FSH?

FSH is an abbreviation for Follicle Stimulating Hormone.  It is produced by the pituitary gland at the base (bottom) of the brain.  FSH is always present in the body, but the pituitary produces more of this hormone when it senses the ovaries are slowing down in the production of eggs.

2.      Why test for FSH?

High levels of FSH are associated with low estrogen levels, thus a positive FSH level.  This is an indicator that the woman is going through her period changes caused by menopause.

3.      I have some symptoms but I still get my period.  Am I in menopause?

You are not in menopause, but you may be experiencing perimenopause.  Many women experience some of the symptoms associated with perimenopause even though they still have their menstrual cycle.  Although the hormone balance in their bodies is changing, their ovaries continue to release eggs.  This means that pregnancy may still be possible.

4.      Will my periods tell me if my ovaries are slowing down or stopped?

No.  Some women can still be producing eggs and having their periods while their FSH levels are rising.

5.      If the test is positive, can I still get pregnant?

A woman can still get pregnant if the test is positive.  Do not stop taking contraceptives (THE PILL) even if the test is positive.  This test is only a tool to help a woman take action at an early stage to consider her future health, as she gets older.  Only when a woman has gone 12 or more months without having her period and talked with her physician can she consider stopping contraceptives.

6.      What should I do if the test is positive?

If both tests are positive, it means your body is producing high levels of FSH and you may be in menopause.  Consult the doctor about your test results and plan ahead.

7.      What if the first test is negative?

If the first test is negative, your FSH level is not elevated, and you are probably not in menopause.  Consider repeating the test again.  If you have concerns about menopause or your menstrual cycle, talk to your doctor about your test results.

8.      What if I get mixed results with one positive test and one negative test?

Mixed test results means the FSH level in your body is not consistently high.  Because your FSH levels are changing, your may be in perimenopause.  Consider repeating the test in 6 to 12 months.  Talk to your doctor about your test results if you have concerns about your health.

9.      Will this test give the same results as laboratory tests?

The Revival Menopause Home Test was compared to laboratory blood tests to detect FSH levels and showed a 99% agreement.  This test detects positive or negative FSH while laboratory tests provide specific levels of the hormone that are useful for physicians in identifying proper therapy.

10.  What if I am already taking estrogen replacement but am not sure that I am menopausal?

Any prescription estrogen, but usually moderate or higher doses of it, can sometimes suppress FSH down to 15-25 IU/ml and give a false negative test. If the test is positive (over 25 IU/L) on the two occasions 1-2 weeks apart, then you are almost certainly menopausal.
