Biosafe® Prostate (PSA) Home Screening Test™ Health Care Professional Information: What is the specific information we can provide? 1. You may experience dizziness while collecting your blood sample. It is recommended to collect the sample while sitting down. 2. The card that contains the blood sample should only be one person’s blood on it. 3. During blood sample collection, be careful not to expose others to your blood sample. 4. If prostate cancer is not detected early and treatment is not given, the cancer cells can spread to other areas of the body and cause more complications. What is the recommended age for prostate cancer testing? The American Cancer Society and the American Urological Association (AUA) recommends an annual DRE and PSA blood test done beginning at age 50. People with higher risk of prostate cancer (e.g. African American or family history) should get their testing done as early as age 40. Understanding the Result Interpretations: Normal total PSA concentration in whole blood is 0.1-2.6 ng/mL PSA.
**Biopsy is required before a health care professional can determine whether or not prostate cancer is present NOTE: A health care professional will need to interpret the results of the PSA test and DRE to determine whether additional testing is needed.
